How we look after your personal data

This policy explains what personal data we collect on raicesdelapatagonia.cl, what we use it for, who we share it with and how you can ask us to correct or delete it. We only ask for what we need to handle your purchase or your account. The Spanish version of this policy is the one that legally applies.

  1. 1. Who is responsible for your data

  2. 2. What data we collect

    • When you create an account: name, email and password. The password is stored encrypted and nobody can read it, not even us.
    • In your profile, if you choose to add them: phone number, address, commune, region and photo.
    • When you buy: name, email, phone number, delivery address if you choose shipping, the products, the amounts and the order status. From Mercado Pago we only receive the payment result and its reference number, never your card details.
    • When you comment on the blog: name, email and the comment. We also store an encrypted fingerprint of your IP address, which cannot be turned back into the original IP and is used only to stop spam.
    • When you browse: the technical information any website receives (IP address, browser, pages visited), which our hosting provider logs for security and to detect errors.

  3. 3. What we use it for

    • Creating and maintaining your account and giving you access to your digital purchases.
    • Processing your orders, shipping them or arranging pickup on WhatsApp, and handling exchanges, returns and guarantees.
    • Sending you the emails your account needs, such as the sign-up confirmation or a password reset.
    • Publishing and moderating your comments.
    • Protecting the site against bots, fraud and abuse.
    • Meeting legal obligations, such as tax obligations.

    We use your data because it is needed to provide what you ask for (your account or your purchase), because you authorise it (comments), to protect the site or because the law requires it. We do not use it for advertising, we do not send promotional emails, and we never sell or rent your data to anyone.

  4. 4. Who we share it with

    We work with providers that process data on our behalf and only to deliver their service to us:

    • Supabase: database and user accounts. Servers in São Paulo, Brazil.
    • Google Cloud: photos and downloadable files. Servers in Santiago, Chile.
    • Cloudflare: site hosting, security and bot verification (Turnstile). Global network.
    • Resend: sending your account emails. Servers in São Paulo, Brazil.
    • Mercado Pago: processes the payment. You enter your payment details directly on its site, under its own privacy policy.
    • Courier company: receives your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.

    Some of these providers store data outside Chile. We choose companies that apply internationally recognised security measures. We may also disclose data to the authorities when the law requires it.

    Courses are bought on Hotmart: any data you give there is handled by Hotmart under its own policy.

  5. 5. How long we keep it

    • Account data: for as long as you keep your account. If you ask us to close it, we delete it.
    • Order data: for as long as tax and consumer protection laws require, even if you close your account.
    • Comments: while they are published or until you ask us to remove them.
    • Technical browsing logs: for a short period.

  6. 6. Cookies and storage in your browser

    We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. We only store in your browser what the site needs to work:

    • Your preferred language (the rdp-locale cookie, kept for one year).
    • The products in your cart, so they are not lost if you close the page.
    • Your session, if you sign in.
    • The Cloudflare Turnstile bot check on the checkout and comment forms.

    The map on the contact page (Google Maps) and the course preview videos (YouTube or Vimeo) come from those services, which may use their own cookies when they load.

  7. 7. Your rights

    At any time you can ask us to:

    • Give you access to the data we hold about you.
    • Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete. You can also edit most of it yourself from your account.
    • Delete it, or close your account.
    • Stop a particular use of it, or suspend it while we review your request.
    • Give you a copy of your data in a format you can take to another service.

    Write to hola@raicesdelapatagonia.cl from the email linked to your account or order. We will reply within the time limits set by law. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Chilean personal data protection authority.

  8. 8. How we protect your data

    • The whole site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
    • Each person can only see their own account and orders; the admin team has restricted access.
    • Downloadable files are delivered through temporary links that expire after one minute.

    If an incident ever affects your data, we will let you know and take the appropriate measures.

  9. 9. Minors

    The site is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data. To buy, you must be of legal age or have permission from your parents or guardians.

  10. 10. Changes to this policy

    If we change this policy, we will publish the new version here with its update date. If the change is significant and you have an account, we will let you know by email.
